September’s Venus Season: Blossoms, Balance, and the Art of Becoming

I did promise that I would start to share how we go from loving the idea or rituals, to putting them into practice. Step one is knowing where we are. Everything starts with awareness and being present - simple right! Well, not always, but let’s start where we are right now.

We start in someways at the beginning down here in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s where we shed the long dark days and nights (although as I sit here with 2 sets of socks on and the biggest, fluffiest jumper I could find, I am shedding nothing!). There is good news though. After seeing the glorious summer posts from my friends and family in the North - we are starting to see a little glimpse of that same glorious sun down here! And I don’t know about you, but I am luxuriating in the return of the sun. Long walks along the beach feel different now, the air lighter, the horizon wider. September in the Southern Hemisphere is what I like to call the great defrost. Life stirs, buds unfurl, evenings linger. And with this shift we step into Venus season, a time when love, beauty, and harmony take centre stage. In New Zealand, it is more than a change in weather. It is an invitation to align our inner world with the blooming abundance around us.

🌕 The Blossom Moon - 6 September

On the 6th, the Spring Blossom Moon rises, carrying the unmistakable fragrance of beginnings and honeysuckle. Traditionally linked with fertility and renewal, this moon mirrors the orchards and gardens now bursting into colour. Under Venus’s gaze, it becomes a moment to pause and ask: what beauty within me is ready to bloom?

A ritual for the night is simple yet profound (channel your inner Cleopatra): bathe with flower petals, light a green or pink candle, and write an intention not of what you must chase, but of what you are ready to draw towards you. Venus reminds us that true attraction comes not from striving, but from embodying our desires.

Don’t worry, I will delve much deeper into this closer to the time.

🌸 Ostara - 23 September

Later in the month comes the Spring Equinox - known in Pagan tradition as Ostara - a moment of balance. Day and night stand as equals, tipping us into the bright half of the year. Eggs, blossoms, and seeds are sacred symbols here: fertility, potential, and harmony made visible.

This is a day for planting, both literally and metaphorically. Place seeds in the soil with whispered intentions, or bury your Blossom Moon notes from earlier in the month, letting them root into the earth as the days grow long. Balance your own scales: ask where you are over-giving, and where you might open to receive.

We have some special, soon to be releases for this season and will again, share a lot more detail as we draw closer.

Ritual Practices for Venus Season

This is where we put science with magic! You can do everything on this list, perhaps pick one or two that call to you. You take the lead here to do what feels right.

1. Create a Manifestation List
Think of this as a declaration of becoming. A manifestation list is not wishful thinking but an exercise in clarity. Write your desires in the present tense, as if they already belong to you. Then ask: What in me believes this is possible? What in me resists it? You don’t need to fix anything just yet - awareness is enough. The list becomes both a map of your longings and a mirror for your subconscious blocks.

2. Journal Prompts
Journaling brings the implicit into the explicit. Try these prompts to align with Venus and Ostara:

  • Where in my life do I crave more balance?

  • What feels ready to blossom in me this season?

  • Where am I giving too much, and what would receiving look like?

  • If my life were a garden, which plants would I tend with love, and which weeds would I gently pull?

3. Affirmations
Affirmations are not empty words. They are anchors of identity. Repeat them aloud daily until they shift from hope into truth. For September, try:

  • I am worthy of all the love, joy, and success the universe has to offer.

  • I have so much to give to the world and the people around me.

  • I welcome balance into my relationships and my life.

  • I release what no longer serves me and create space for what is meant for me.

🌹 Venus + Ostara: The Season of Becoming

When Venus season folds into Ostara, the result is potent. Together they invite not only the celebration of beauty but the cultivation of harmony. This is the season for adorning altars with blossoms and mirrors, for dancing barefoot on spring grass, for honouring pleasure as power.

September is not just a month. It is a threshold. A rare moment when the world outside and the world within both whisper the same thing: become more of who you are.

A Note for My Candle Testers

For those who have joined my new candle tester group, you will start to hear much more about these practices in the weeks ahead. I am preparing to release a new collection of manifestation pillar candles - created as companions to rituals like these. They will be offered in small, exclusive batches, so keep your eyes open.
