I’m Kathryn, founder and maker behind Scented Fable.
I’ve always had an obsession with history and tradition - the stories, symbols, and tiny rituals that connect us to ourselves, each other, the world, and nature. I pull inspiration from everywhere I’ve called home: the wild, historic Fens in England, the sun-baked Mediterranean, the ancient whispers of the Middle East, and the lush, grounding calm of New Zealand.
Scented Fable began as my own small rebellion against the rush and beautiful chaos of life. I’m a wife, mum to two gorgeous kids, and adventurer with our mischievous pug (so stillness can feel fleeting at best). As a mindfulness and meditation teacher, I know how powerful it is to carve out small moments to pause. In a world that can feel chaotic, where the different seasons of life can feel shifting, pausing is essential to remembering who you are.
My candles are my way of keeping all of this alive: sculptural pieces of beeswax and scent, made to invite you to pause, gather, and feel joyful - one flicker at a time. Every shape, every blend, every tiny wax seal is a quiet nod to craft, story, and the simple joy of lighting something worth keeping. Life is too short for boring candles and far too precious not to keep a little ritual burning.

Pure, Clean, and Inspired by Tradition
Rooted in fun, beautiful design with a focus on ethical, clean and natural formulations, each of our products is created to make daily rituals more enjoyable and impactful. I believe in only using sustainable, ethical materials - free from sulphates, parabens and other harsh chemicals.
The candles are handcrafted in small batches using some of the most beautiful materials. They are crafted from 100% natural, ethically sourced NZ beeswax with lead free, cotton wicks and non-toxic fragrances. They are inspired by history and nature, resulting in collections that are both visually striking and one-of-a-kind. Each candle captures the essence of orchards found from the places of my childhood. Of ancient statues and of inspiring individuals.
Using traditional candle making traditions and handcrafted in small batches at my Auckland studio, these candles are always safe and cruelty-free.

We’re obsessed with candles here at Scented Fable, but we want them to mean something. So, we don’t just craft candles. We create characters.
Each one carries a main character vibe. Especially our Ember collection, where every candle has a persona. A mood. A feeling. A little firestarter to remind you who you are (or who you’re becoming).

There’s a reason we’ve gathered around wax and flame for centuries. A single scent can stir memory, a flicker can change a room, a shape can make the everyday feel worth keeping.
When I create a new piece, whether it’s a pure beeswax taper, an unexpected culinary delight or a scented blend - I like to studio like an old world alchemist: layering fragrances, old and ancient recipes, and a little magic for modern life.
Some stories trace back to ancient gardens, formulas you might find scribbled on a papyrus in Cleopatra’s chamber or tucked in an old apothecary’s book.
I like to think these scents and shapes are a bridge, between old and new, ritual and everyday, with the natural world, created = so we can come back to ourselves, one flicker at a time.”
