Manifestation 101 - why it’s more science than woo woo
MANIFESTATION IS A MINDSET, ONE WHERE YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND YOU ARE READY TO TAKE THE STEPS TO GET THERE.
Have you ever noticed that when you are looking to buy something, say a new car, that once you’ve decided on a make and model that you suddenly see it everywhere?
This is how I think about manifestation. It’s less about magic and more about focus. Manifestation is:
learning to understand a decode the things that you truly want and why you want them.
Actually believing that you can really get them and that you deserve them.
Working out the steps that it will take for you to make them real, and taking those steps.
So often we want things that we think that we should want, or we don’t believe that we are ‘worthy’ of getting things that we want. Perhaps you’ve felt that you shouldn’t want the things that you do or you should particular things because that’s what’s expected of you (the idea of success can be a twisty one!). Dreaming big, creating goals and planning out your future can feel tricky, especially if you’ve not put some deep thinking into them. We change a lot of our lifetimes. Different events change us and change what success looks like and what our goals are. This means that we are often left going after things that we don’t want. Even worse, the things that we do want, we don’t believe are for people like ‘us’. Sound familiar? What if, with a little work, you could have the things that you really want?
I truly believe that we can have lives that we love and have them filled with things that we truly love. Now, I’m not talking mansions and fast cars. I’m talking about the things that make us spark a fire in us, that we know the WHY behind the wanting. The things that our dreams direct us towards.
This is what I call manifestation. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think a lot about manifestation until I became pregnant. I started to really dig deep and think about what I wanted for my child, my family and for myself. Things that seemed so important before, suddenly weren’t. The more that I deepened my meditation practice, the less that I wanted. The more that I journaled and wrote through my feelings, the better that I understood them.
So, what is it that you really want? Have you thought about it recently? Have you dug deep? Do you know why you want the things that you want? Don’t get caught up in whether you should or shouldn’t want these things, be honest about your reasons. There is no room for shame.
My rules for when I’m talking to clients about manifestation:
Learn what your self inquiry is: Do you tap in through meditation, exercise, meditation, being in nature, heck even the shower can be your creative space! Know it and use it.
Learn how to tap into what you want: Ok, so you’ve started to think big, now what? You need to record these things. Lists, vision boards, figure out how to create a ‘manifestation list’.
Dig deep: You also need to work on yourself. What’s your self-worth like? Where are your blocks? What are the limiting beliefs or narratives that you hold onto? What are your triggers and less than helpful behaviours?
See it to believe it: Who has what you want? How did they get there? What are the things that they had to do? I first read about this in ‘Tinker, Tailer, do, Try’ and it changed how I look at things. There are many different experts that now talk about this. Use Instagram to your advantage. Find mentors.
