The Lunar Edit: What the Waning Crescent in Cancer Means for You

We humans are shockers at being in the moment. But, lucky you, we’re living through the era of mindfulness everything. It’s the megatrend. Mindful workouts, mindful lattes, even my watch pings me several times a day demanding I “breathe mindfully.” Don’t worry - I am fully aware of the irony.

It’s perhaps why I am the first to admit that being properly mindful is easier said than done. Who really has the time (or patience) to stare at a flower and hum “om” for half an hour every day? But, you know where it gets sticky, that without this practicing of presents, without it, our busy, busy minds can’t get a whiff of clarity and there is the risk of totally unraveling (or maybe that’s just me…). So what’s the cheat code? Can mindfulness be outsourced? Is there some cosmic reminder that does the heavy lifting for us?

Yes. It’s called the moon.

At its core, mindfulness is about the present. Trouble is, we’re creatures of the future. You know, the planning, projecting, the plotting of our next move (I see you thinking about the grocery list as you read this!). Studies even show our happiness spikes when we connect meaningfully with others, not when we isolate ourselves. Which is why using a tool from nature that anchors us and connects us is such a power move.

So, the moon, yes. So where are we right now? We’re in the final breaths of Virgo season, under a Waning Crescent in Cancer. Translation: it’s a moment for emotional honesty, release, and quiet renewal. Sounds a touch fancy doesn’t it!

What This Phase Brings

  • Release what feels heavy

  • Be honest with yourself

  • Prepare the ground for renewal

Your Check-In

Get yourself settled, open a beautiful notebook, and ask:

  • What am I ready to release?

  • Where do I need more softness?

  • What does “home” mean for me this week?

Write freely. Keep it simple. Trust your instinct.

Scents to Support You

Mindfulness doesn’t have to be without it’s luxury, it can (and should!) be sensual, joyful, even musical. Light your favourite candle, burn a little smudgy sage, or spritz away stale energy (bonus points if it’s to Florence + The Machine).

  • Chamomile — soothing, protective

  • Vanilla — warm, embracing

  • Sage — clears the air

  • Blackberry — nostalgic, a little wild

Candle Companion

This month’s star is The Blackberry Candle - iconic bramble-rich, memory-laced, and grounding. Light it as you pause, journal, or simply adore.
