DIY: Sleep Spray

DIY

I absolutely love to create, craft and experiment. I love to learn how things work and how to create things that are exactly what I am looking for. One of my latest loves is my Deep Sleep spray - it is wonderful for kids, busy minds and for using to set the mood with any mindfulness moments.

There are some AMAZING products out there, but sometimes it’s lovely to be able to keep costs down and make it yourself - or to gift! So here is a wonderful little recipe for you to try at home.

Ingredients:

I’ve used a gorgeous aromatherapeutic super blend of lavender and camomile essential oils that calms both mind and body, soothing you to sleep. Simply spritz your pillow before you sleep.

  • Distilled water – 40 ml

  • Witch hazel – 10 ml (helps blend the oils and adds calming properties)

  • Lavender essential oil – 10 drops (calming and soothing for sleep)

  • Chamomile essential oil – 5 drops (soothing, promotes relaxation)

Method:

  1. Prepare the spray bottle: Use a clean 50 ml spray bottle (preferably dark glass to preserve the oils).

  2. Add the distilled water: Pour 40 ml of distilled water into the bottle. Use a small funnel to make this easier.

  3. Add witch hazel: Measure and add 10 ml of witch hazel to the bottle. This will help mix the essential oils into the water and contribute calming properties.

  4. Add the essential oils: Drop in 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 5 drops of chamomile essential oil. These oils will provide the relaxing and soothing effects needed for better sleep.

  5. Shake well: Cap the bottle tightly and shake vigorously to blend the ingredients.

  6. Label and store: Label your bottle and store it in a cool, dark place. Shake before each use to ensure the essential oils are evenly dispersed.

Usage:

  • Spray 1-2 spritzes onto your pillow or around your bedroom about 10 minutes before going to bed to create a calming, restful environment. Never spray on the skin, ingest or near the eyes.
